Why I Created Pomo One? It's Different from Any Pomodoro App You've Used

As a seasoned programmer who has spent countless hours in the world of coding, I’ve long struggled with the fatigue that comes from extended screen time. Eye strain and back pain were constant companions. After trying various solutions, I discovered the Pomodoro Technique—a simple tool that became the golden key to transforming my work habits.

The impact of using the Pomodoro Technique was transformative. Gone were the days of strained eyes and stiff back, replaced by sustained focus and abundant energy. Like a thoughtful assistant, it not only helps me quickly enter a state of deep concentration but also reminds me to take timely breaks. During these breaks, I can rest my tired eyes, clear my mind, and stretch my body—small details that prove crucial for maintaining both health and productivity.

This rhythm of “focused work + appropriate breaks” helped me bid farewell to the physically demanding, high-intensity work style of the past. However, as I delved deeper into this practice, I realized there was room for even greater improvement. After careful consideration, I identified two key areas for breakthrough:

  1. Task Management Revolution: To achieve true focus, an efficient task management system is essential. Here, the Kanban method emerges as the perfect solution. It’s an incredibly intuitive visual workflow management tool that displays all work items on a board (typically categorized into columns like “To Do,” “In Progress,” and “Done”). This at-a-glance presentation not only allows me to track all task progress instantly but also enables flexible priority adjustment, making work twice as efficient.

  2. Time Investment Wisdom: In this era of lifelong learning, the “10,000-Hour Rule” provided me with a profound insight: achieving expertise in any field requires sustained time investment and deliberate practice. Yet, our time often slips away unnoticed—scrolling through social media, engaging in low-value activities, and before we know it, the day is gone. This led me to ponder: Where exactly is my time going? Am I truly investing it in what matters most?

After deep reflection, I realized I needed a more comprehensive tool—one that could help maintain focus during work, prompt relaxation during breaks, ensure efficiency in task management, and guide time investment direction. However, after trying numerous Pomodoro apps available in the market, I found none that could fully meet these requirements.

Thus, I decided to develop a new application myself—Pomo One. The name comes from the first four letters of “Pomodoro,” while “One” represents my philosophy: you only need this one app to fulfill all your needs. It seamlessly integrates the Pomodoro Technique with the Kanban method and internalizes the essence of the 10,000-Hour Rule through a tag system.

With Pomo One, you’ll gain:

  • Efficient Task Management: Visually organize and track your tasks through the Kanban board
  • Focus Enhancement: Maintain high efficiency and focus during set time periods using the Pomodoro Technique
  • Growth Visualization: Clearly record and display your time investment across various fields based on the 10,000-Hour Rule
  • Data Analysis Insights: Witness your growth in work and learning through detailed statistical data

Pomo One is more than just an app—it’s your capable companion on the journey to a focused and fulfilling life. If you have any thoughts or suggestions about this application, I’m eager to hear from you. Feel free to reach out through pomo.one.app@gmail.com or visit our Feature Requests page.
